Where do we go when the world feels too heavy? At times, a thought of place arrives. It brings to mind a space we long for. Somewhere gentle and quiet, somewhere better. In a fast-paced environment, even a sight of green and a bit of sunlight can feel like enough.
Where da Grass Greens Grow evolved as a process of return, continuing the energy of Mity’s previous show in 2023, b4h@la Na K@u (sa buhay nyo). Yet, to follow it too closely would mean chasing something specific. So he soon stepped away from that idea. Instead, he chose to reconnect with more personal space than rely on careful planning. Thus, the process became more honest and unforced. When one work felt stuck, another would take its place.
Much like spending afternoon comforts outdoors. Where we’re invited free to loaf under the sun and smell the grass as long as we want. Resisting the weight of everyday demands and refusing to swamp us with pressure.
For this exhibit, making has become a form of refuge like finding ourselves in an open field of green. It makes both a physical and emotional space that holds the desire for comfort, while still carrying the tensions of the present. In the end, creating becomes a safe space to return to. For even briefly, one can step away undisturbed, and simply exist.
